The Route

Three islands, two soils, one oil.

This route moves across three islands in Vanuatu, each contributing something different to what ends up in the range. On Melakula, children collect Tamanu nuts straight from the shoreline, which are cracked, sun-dried and cold-pressed close to where they fall.

On Tanna, our sandalwood grows in soil enriched by the ash of Mt Yasur, one of the world's most accessible active volcanoes. On Efate, the same species grows in richer jungle soil, giving a second, different aroma we blend with the first.

We sleep village-side the whole way through, not in resorts, and every stop is built around a project already underway.

The Itinerary

Roughly how it goes.

Day 1–3

Efate

Arrive into Port Vila, meet the team, and visit the jungle-soil sandalwood groves close to the capital.

Day 4–6

Malekula shorelines

Walk the Tamanu shorelines with the children who harvest the nuts, and join a cold-pressing session.

Day 7–9

Tanna & Mt Yasur

Visit the volcanic-ash sandalwood groves and climb to the rim of Mt Yasur at dusk.

Day 10–12

Back to Efate

Return to Port Vila for project visits and a final village dinner before flying home.

The Impact

A trade that runs both ways.

Every tin of Sherpa Rub containing Tamanu funds clean water access and school supplies across the villages we work with here.
