The Route

The most potent chilli grown anywhere.

Bayingolin is a Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, and home to a chilli variety more potent than any other grown around the world. We travel here for the late-summer harvest, when the seed oil is at its strongest.

The oil is steam-distilled on site, a process we watch and take part in, before it goes on to give Activator and Extreme Sherpa Rub their signature warming, time-release sensation.

Evenings are spent hosted by nomadic families, under some of the biggest skies you will ever stand under, with fires that need no encouragement to burn all night.

The Itinerary

Roughly how it goes.

Day 1–2

Arrival & the plains

Arrive and travel out onto the plains, meeting the families who host the group for the rest of the trip.

Day 3–6

The harvest

Join the chilli harvest itself, and watch the steam-distillation of the seed oil first-hand.

Day 7–8

Nomadic hosting

Stay with nomadic families, sharing meals and evenings around the fire under open sky.

Day 9–10

Departure

A final morning on the plains before the journey home.

The Impact

Supporting a harvest with a short window.

The chilli season here is brief, and our purchasing commitment gives growers the certainty to plan the rest of their year around it.
