Our Ingredients

I go to every
single source.

When I develop a formula, I always aim for the purest, most powerful ingredient. The Juniper in Sherpa Rub grows wild in Nepal at over 4,900m, in untouched soil. Not only organic, but untouched. I scour the globe for ingredients like that, and only those make the cut.

Origin · Pangboche, Nepal · 4,000m

Himalayan Juniper

Juniperus indica
01

Grows wild along mountain ridges. Harvested locally and used daily by the village in burning and Puja ceremonies. We replant double what we harvest.

Origin · Tanna & Efate, S. Pacific

Sandalwood, dual-island

Santalum austrocaledonicum
02

One soil rich with volcanic ash from Mt Yasur, one with jungle vegetation. Blended together to bring out the ultimate properties of both.

Origin · Melakula Island, S. Pacific

Tamanu

Calophyllum Inophyllum
03

Grows on shores, thrives in salty sandy shorelines. Local children collect the nuts for their mothers to crack and sun-dry. Anti-inflammatory and wound healer.

Origin · Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous

Mongolian Chilli

Capsicum annuum

Essential oil extracted from chilli seeds through steam distillation. More powerful than any other chilli grown around the world.

Origin · New Zealand

Manuka

Leptospermum scoparium
05

Native to the Maori people, called Taonga, or Treasure. We collect the delicate petals during the few flowering weeks, then steam-distil for the oil.

Origin · Amazonia rainforest

Andiroba

Carapa guianensis
06

Known as the Queen of the Amazonian rainforest. Oil extracted by cold-pressing the seed nut. Acts as an emollient, giving the jelly-feel barrier, 100% vegan.

Origin · Melakula Island airstrip

Coconut

Cocos nucifera
07

From the Tree of Life. After the islanders use everything they need, the surplus is cold-pressed for oil. Nothing is wasted.

Origin · Socotra Island

Frankincense

Boswellia sacra
08

A sap resin that oozes from the tree. Scraped by the indigenous people, dried in hot sun, distilled in a copper still for the oil.

Origin · Israel, Red Sea

Myrrh

Commiphora Myrrha
09

Gum resin from the small thorny tree. Considered one of the holy plants, also used in the anointing oil. Antibacterial and antifungal.

Origin · Jamaica

Pimento

Pimenta dioica
10

Native to Jamaica, family Myrtaceae. A cross between a chilli and a pepper, sweet and spicy. Eugenol content gives strong pain-relief properties.

Origin · Everest region · 4,900–5,400m

Seabuckthorn

Hippophae rhamnoides
11

Fat orange berry, eaten direct from the bushes while climbing in the mountains. Pressed for juice and oil.

Origin · British coastline

Red Algae

Rhodophyta
12

Humectant properties that thoroughly lock in moisture, keep skin hydrated for longer, and help rejuvenate the skin after long swims.

The R&D

Tested under electron microscopy.

All ingredients go through testing and complex R&D. We use Plymouth University electron microscopy labs to look up close and fully understand their unique properties, which is how we know which sandalwood and which juniper to bring home, and exactly how much.
