The Meaning of Christmas Giving

It is the time of year we start to think about writing our Christmas giving lists and who to give to, the type of gift and what we can afford to spend, plus reasons for giving.

We give gifts at Christmas to honour the Biblical story of The Three Wise Men who brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh to the baby Jesus. Giving gifts at Christmas reminds us of the joy that comes from sharing.

In today's world, the media is packed with adverts trying to sell the latest gadget, trending child's toy or luxury handbag, not forgetting socks and soap, the gift that is given when no one knows what to buy!

A Gift That Keeps on Giving

At Rebecca Day 360, every product you order keeps on giving.

This means when you order a product like the Sherpa Rub, that order is giving hope and a future to indigenous mountain children to go to school, stay in school, with all their educational supplies met.

When you order the Activator, you are helping to fund indigenous children in Melakula Island and remote off-grid islands in the South Pacific by supporting the mothers training them on how to look after their land, and build replanting nurseries that have been destroyed by cyclones. By training the local mothers, it gives them a sustainable income to feed their family and send their children to school.

Our 360 Impact: The Past 3 Years

Over the past 3 years, I have given:

  • 3600kg of winter food supply parcels to the elderly and disabled.
  • Looked after Pangboche school children; given custom full school uniforms for both winter and summer, plus jackets, merino thermals, socks, and thermal mountain boots.
  • Care parcels given to local mothers.
  • 300 x Extreme Sherpa Rubs handed out to high-altitude Porters carrying heavy loads.
  • Built 3 homes in a local mountain village, which includes building a family home for our team Porter and his family in the village with a school the children can attend.
  • Set up the Jnr Expedition Team that provides funds for 50 x local children to stay in school.
  • Built and continue to build indigenous projects for the mothers to learn skills on how to look after their land and habitats. By teaching the skills needed, it gives a sustainable alternative income instead of having to work in the fields planting potatoes for low wages.
