Expedition Juniper, Khumbu Region, Nepal. This expedition is perfect for anyone who can comfortably trek for a few hours a day. Our task will be to visit a region of Nepal in the Sagarmatha National Park. The local community has been affected by climate change, and our aim is to restore Mount Everest's alpine ecosystem, build local capacity and improve livelihoods. Contact us to join.
The purpose of the expedition
This region is a fragile alpine environment. Global warming and climate change accelerating deforestation has further weakened these ecosystems, imperiling the livelihoods of poor disadvantaged mountain communities.
Expedition Juniper is focused on the local community of Pangboche and with the support of The Nepal Partners Ang Rita Sherpa. We will plant 1000 native Juniper trees with an aim to restore and conserve the Imja Valley Watershed. We wild harvest cuttings above ASL 4900m of the native Juniper, which offers the purest, most potent botanicals, to grow in mountain nurseries before we replant. Juniper is yak proof, which is perfect for the success and growth of the Juniper trees.

With all the indigenous projects I build it is vital that the basic needs of the indigenous people are met and that every child has the opportunity to go to school. Pangboche Basic School has my continuous support. The children live in poverty and dream to go to school, which is why I am committed to make dreams come true plus support the Teachers too.

Ready for an adventure?
If you have a good basic fitness level and a desire for adventure with purpose, this could be your perfect trip. Indeed, these expeditions will take you out of your comfort zone, but they are not an extreme challenge. This expedition includes a trek through the mountains, only 500m in altitude a day. Living the life of indigenous mountain people, being hands on with our outreach projects with children of Pangboche Basic School, and being part of replanting native Juniper trees. To join me and my mountain team on Expedition Juniper will be a life changing experience for you.
Many of the parents have never had any form of education, and with no education the only work they can do is as a Porter or working in fields planting potatoes for £8 per day. Which is the reason behind Expedition Juniper: to train and upskill Pangboche Mothers how to replant and look after the environments, giving them a sustainable alternative income.

- Fitness level: Healthy and able to trek for a few hours a day and get acclimatised to being at altitude.
