The real heroes of every successful Mount Everest summit bid are the climbing porters who continually risk their lives while guiding and helping international climbers through extreme, high-altitude conditions.
Due to their bravery and insight, many tourists can reach the top of the world and summit Mount Everest ASL 8,849m.
Lhakpa Sherpa and Sonam Bhutia families are both from Khumjung village ASL 3,850m high altitude village surrounded by majestic mountains. Lhakpa left school at 13yrs old to start working to help support his parents, which is why he had to take on dangerous jobs working Mount Everest expeditions to earn a better salary than having to break stones to build paths or being a porter. All to be able to send his children to school for the chance he never had of going on to college and university. When Lhakpa and Sonam are not looking after international climbers looking to reach the summit of Mount Everest, they are part of my team, along with their wives, that help RD360º CIC deliver food supply parcels to elderly and disabled Sherpas and mountain people.
We salute them all and want to say thank you 🙏
